Alpes de Lumière is an association working for the preservation, enhancement and promotion of the territory and heritage for over 50 years.
Based in Forcalquier in Alpes de Haute Provence, the association has several poles within its structure. Indeed, first the publishing sector, Alpes de Lumière publishes specialized books on particular themes, such as his latest book « Les Églises médiévales du Var »("The medieval churches of Var".)
The association also has an entertainment area and offers tours, workshops citizens, conferences or seminars on a specific topic related to contemporary problems and constraints: eco construction, eco village, sustainability, land management, protection Environmental ...
Finally Alpes de Lumière offers voluntary workcamps. During these restoration projects on two or three weeks, young volunteers are invited to participate in the development, renovation and maintenance of the heritage of a town. Young people are therefore involved in medieval ramparts, washhouses, mills, sheepfolds etc.
In return they participate in recreational and cultural activities in the region at any kind visits, sports activities, excursions, concerts, shows ... These young people come from around the world, does not necessarily speak French but are keen to invest in an interesting project and useful and sportive holydays.
We would contact you about these voluntary workcamps. Indeed, your structure welcome a lot of student who could be interested to come in France, workcamps are a good alternative to visit the country at lower cost. The 13 workcamps we organize every year take place in July and August. Youth are housed in communal apartments, campsites, holiday resorts...
They work every morning from Monday to Friday 7 am to 1 pm. Afternoons and weekends are reserved for leisure activities. They are supervised by a professional mason in the morning, which initiates them to the restoration of traditional buildings, and by a facilitator in the afternoon with whom they establish the activity program stay.
Their accommodation, transport on the site, meals and activities are financed by the association, however a financial contribution is requested to young people (100 € for a 2 weeks stay, 130 € for a 3 week stay).
The travel from student’ homes to the workcamp is not supported by Alpes de Lumière.
In 2010 we propose 12 workcamps over the region Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur : 11 for adults (+18 years) 1 for teenagers (14-17 years).
